Fitting a chimney liner can be a daunting challenge without scaffolding. This is why I often suggest that self installers contact a local roofer, somebody who is a little more used to working at height, to slide the liner down the chimney and connect a cowl. There is another way though, if your chimney stack is at the apex of your property.

CARS_oneI often use this small and very portable “chimney scaffold”, this brilliant piece if kit being suitable for chimney stacks that are at the apex of the roof. It is light enough to cart up to the top in pieces and can be assembled whilst sitting at the top of the cat ladder.

How much to hire it?

£90 includes up to three weekdays hire (weekends are free) then £30 per each week day after this. The hire period starts at midnight the day you receive the scaffold and ends at midnight the day before the scaffold is collected from you by our driver. The total is less any discounts gained by purchasing from The Stove Fitter’s Store. A £60 postage charge will also be applied.

Example 1:

Customer receives scaffold Tuesday 10am.
Customer has scaffold on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Scaffold collected by our driver on Monday.
Cost to customer £90 (three full week days) plus £60 postage = £150 (less any discount if applicable).

Example 2:

Customer receives scaffold Thursday 10am.
Customer has scaffold on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Scaffold collected by our driver on Friday.
Cost to customer £150 (five full week days) plus £60 postage = £210 (less any discount if applicable).

What’s the procedure?

A deposit of £500 is required. This deposit is passed to us via bank transfer. At the end of the hire, when the scaffold is returned, the deposit is refunded via bank transfer (less any charges for postage, hire, damage or loss).

You will choose both the collection date and the return date for the scaffold. We will organise delivery and collection and you must be at the property to hand over the item.

The chimney scaffold will be despatched in a wooden “suitcase” and will be packed by you for collection in the same.
